Did you make the elastic in the waistband shorter than the waistband itself? If so, how much shorter was it?

Measure the elastic around your waist with a tightness that feels comfortable on you - and then crochet the waistband to be the size of the widest area of your lower body! 

What size elastic did you use?

Did you find this type of stitch to be see through? Or is it kind of depending on the colors of yarn you use?

I actually don't find them see through - even in the red and cream pair I've made! You could always do linked stitches if you do find them see through.

Do you think i can use 100% acrylique yarn ? It’s the first time i am trying to make a garment, I don’t know what is the best.

Cotton would be best for summer shorts, I have made a pair out of these in acrylic and they are a bit sweaty to wear in summer so I personally wouldn't recommend.

I'm a beginner and i want to do this, can I use bigger yarn/crochet or will it be too different?

You totally can but the shorts will be thicker and more rigid - but if you feel more comfortable using thicker yarn then I’d say go for it for your first pair and then once you’re confident with the construction you can swap to thinner yarn for your next pair. I made my first pair of shorts with thicker yarn and they are just a bit more stiff but still wearable.
